Frequently
Asked Questions
If
I am anxious about the Dentist can you help me?
It is perfectly normal to feel anxious about
a visit to the Dentist, lots of people do. If you have not been to
the Dentist for a while you may be pleasantly surprised. We have new
medication and techniques that eliminate discomfort. Please tell us
what your apprehensions are so we can help you. We aim to make all
your visits to us as pleasant and as comfortable as possible. We would
like all our patients to treat us as we would treat them, as friends.

What
is your office like?
An important part of every dental experience is the surroundings.
We have tried to create a friendly environment that looks good and
feels comfortable. We think it reflects the style of our practice;
it is open and accessible. To improve communication between the patient
and ourselves we have installed an intra-oral camera to show on screen
the parts of your mouth that may require treatment or are of interest
to you.

What
do you do to make the children feel at ease?
We have set aside a children's play area with books, games and child
sized furniture to keep the child amused during his or her visit.
We believe a positive life-long dental attitude is given a head start
with these little touches. We approach children's dental care with
the same consideration as we do for adults. What is different is the
time we take to build up trust with our children. They know we care
about them and believe in making their dental experiences as positive
as possible.

Do
you handle dental emergencies?
There are many definitions of a dental emergency i.e. pain, swelling,
fractured teeth, lost fillings. Whatever the problem is we will endeavour
to ensure that you are seen in the practice as soon as possible. We
allow everyday, in our appointments schedule, space for emergency
appointments. For our registered patients we can be contacted on mobile
telephone.

What
are your payment and Insurance Policies?
After each examination you will receive a written estimate and complete
description of your treatment plan. Often your treatment plan offers
several options particularly in the case of cosmetic work.
Payment can be structured to your needs. We accept most Credit Cards.
Payment is required for work on the day it is done. We also use Denplan
Scheme which offers continuing care. Please enquire if you would like
details of this scheme.

What
is the primary focus of your Practice?
Our surgery provides a full range of dental treatments including preventative,
restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Rather than chasing after disease,
prevention is at the heart of our Practice and our Hygiene Unit. It
is less costly, more comfortable and far more enjoyable for all of
us to practise prevention.

What
if I am concerned about x-ray?
Some patients express legitimate concern about exposure to x-rays
during the course of dental treatment. While all dentists concede
the necessity for x-rays (to detect unseen decay, abscesses, beginning
of gum disease etc.), our practice offers a conservative approach
to the taking of x-rays. We have been using Radiographic Imaging that
downloads the x-ray immediately onto computer screen. This results
in a 10-fold reduction in radiation compared to conventional films.
